Jason Akers

Mr. Akers has over twenty years of experience as a public finance attorney.  Since joining Foley & Judell in June 2007, Mr. Akers has worked for both public and private entities throughout Louisiana on many types of financing arrangements for public works and economic development projects. 
 
Mr. Akers currently serves as NABL's President-Elect and is a member of the NABL Board of Directors.  Prior to being elected to the Board, Mr. Akers served as Chairman of NABL's Education Committee and a member of its Subcommittee on Professional Responsibility and was the 2013 Chairman of NABL's Fundamentals of Municipal Bond Law Seminar.  Mr. Akers also lectures on bond-related topics to various trade groups in Louisiana, such as the Louisiana chapter of the Government Finance Officers Association and the Louisiana Association of School Business Officials.  He was nominated and elected to the American College of Bond Counsel in 2021.
 
Mr. Akers graduated cum laude from the University of Mississippi School of Law in 2000, where he served as a member of the Executive Committee of the Moot Court Board and as an elected representative to the University's Honor Council.  He graduated cum laude in 1997 from Millsaps College with a B.A. in History and a minor in Business Administration.
