Meredith Hathorn

Ms. Hathorn graduated cum laude from Tulane University School of Law in 1983, where she was Editor of The Maritime Lawyer and a Senior Fellow responsible for teaching legal research and writing to fellow law students.  Following graduation, Ms. Hathorn became an associate at the firm of Mudge Rose Guthrie & Alexander in New York City before joining Foley & Judell in May of 1985.  Ms. Hathorn has served as Chairman of the Government and Public Law Section of the Louisiana Bar Association and was the editor of the Government and Public Law Newsletter.  In addition, Ms. Hathorn served a four-year term on the Board of Directors of the National Association of Bond Lawyers (NABL), including a term as Secretary of the Board.  She was co-chair of the NABL Committee for The Functions and Professional Responsibilities of Bond Counsel, served on the NABL Committee that published Model Engagement Letters, and was appointed to the NABL TIFIA Task Force.  Ms. Hathorn was elected to a four-year term to the Municipal Securities Rulemaking Board (MSRB) in 2020 and was elected to serve a one-year term as Chair of the MSRB in 2022.  Ms. Hathorn was reelected to serve as Chair of the MSRB for an additional one-year term in 2023.  She also currently serves as chair of the Steering Committee.  Ms. Hathorn is the immediate past president of the Louisiana Chapter of Women in Public Finance and was named one of the 2021 Trailblazing Women in Public Finance by The Bond Buyer and the Northeast Women in Public Finance.  Ms. Hathorn was recently selected by the Greater Baton Rouge Business Report as one of its 2024 Influential Women in Business honorees.  She is also a member of the American College of Bond Counsel.
 
Ms. Hathorn has served as lead bond attorney for the State of Louisiana on transportation-related and other specialized financings. Ms. Hathorn also serves as bond counsel to the Port of New Orleans, the Ernest N. Morial New Orleans Exhibition Hall Authority and on many 501(c)(3) financings for hospitals, universities, and charter schools, and in connection with private activity bonds for Cleco Power LLC, Marathon Oil Company, Nucor Steel Louisiana LLC, NuStar Logistics, L.P., Air Products and Chemicals, Inc., and LOOP LLC.
